Musically, this song is the oldest of the bunch. I originally wrote this guitar line for a band that I drum for (Black Mesa), but it was immediately scoffed for it's simplicity (and the fact that it wasn't in D tuning). It finally found a home after I paired it with an equally old batch of lyrics, based on a story I read about a girl who threw away everything for the brave new world of a strange city. The only thing "new" is the implementation of a stylophone line that my sister bought for me in New York City. Neat little instrument. I'm waiting for my key to the city.
lyrics
He is lost without the love
Toronto took away
A trip he thought would last a week
Now it’s been over 40 days
Called her cell but to no avail
She’s vanished from the face of his earth
Never to return
In Toronto she has found her worth
Opened her eyes in the great white north
Opened her eyes
Standing at the borderline
He is wishing for another try
Another moment with the love
Underneath the Canadian sky
